Valladolid Film Ecosystem and IT Transfer

Research Honorary Award / Special Mention

CineMAPP and FilmCityDB are scientific results of the GIRAC (Recognized Research Group of Architecture and Film) from the University of Valladolid and specifically from the R&D&I Project
“Cinematographic Ecosystem of the City and Transfer with New Technologies (VA234P20)” co-financed by the Castilla y León Regional Government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Who has not followed a treasure map at least once? Every treasure map was drawn by someone whose intention was to transfer to another person the route to reach the final treasure through an informational procedure that we today call geolocation.

This research develops both the content (FilmCityDB) and the mobile-oriented WebApp computer application (CineMAPP) so that screen tourism can be practiced either individually or in a group, using
geolocation systems and discovering the Cinematographic Ecosystem of Valladolid.

The city grew significantly in the 1950s-70s. The new neighborhoods added their modern cinemas to the existing ones, a process in which numerous schools incorporated their own cinema, signed in some cases by pioneers of Spanish modern architecture such as Miguel Fisac. The research has produced the necessary information for virtual visiting. Combining traditional graphic supports with contemporary audiovisual supports in order to feed the FilmcityDB database that serves as support to CineMAPP.

The user experience will allow access and enjoyment of the city’s accumulated cinematographic history since the last century and face reflections on film and media; the relationships between the physical and the virtual; the dialogue between past and present; intangible heritage culture and new technologies; the reactivation of the past through new practices from film, projection spaces architecture and information technologies.
